“The rich take care of the rich and the poor take care of those who have less than they have.”

Lately in class we have been reading a chapter in Esperanza Rising called Las Guayabas (Guavas). It had two comments in it. The first was “I am poor, but I am rich. I have my children, I have a garden with roses, and I have my faith and the memories of those who have gone before me. What more is there?” and this was on page 76. Then the second quote was “The rich take care of the rich and the poor take care of those who have less than they have.” on page 79. We were then asked to write a paragraph about one of the quotes for homework.

I have been finding it hard to decide which quote to write about because they link together very well. I have finally decided to write about the second quote. “The rich take care of the rich and the poor take care of those who have less than they have.” What this quote means is that even if there are people richer than you does not mean that  you are the poorest in the world. There are people that are poorer than you and you have to look after them because they have no one else other than people that can afford food, shelter and other necessities to live. In other words this means that if you can afford to by food this means you are rich and if you see someone who cannot afford food, you buy them food. I disagree with the quote because I think that rich people should look after people that are not as wealthy as they are. You will see why I think this if you go to this link.
